Canine Health and Welfare Seminar

Venue: Dick White Charitable Foundation Centre, Six Mile Bottom, Suffolk, CB8 0UH

An opportunity for all Cocker Spaniel enthusiasts/breeders/exhibitors to attend a canine health and welfare seminar on the most common medical and surgical problems encountered in Cocker Spaniels.

The seminar will be held by The Dick White Charitable Foundation at their centre based in Six Mile Bottom CB8 0UH and is free of charge, lunch will also be provided. The number of attendees is limited to 40 people, if you would like to attend this seminar please email The Breed Council: cockerspanielbreedcouncil@yahoo.co.uk by 3rd March and further details will be provided.

A preliminary selection of the topics which will be considered might include:

Dermatology
• How to keep healthy paws
• How to prevent and control ectoparasite infestations
• How to manage smelly ears

Medicine
• Familial nephropathy
• Urinary tract infection and urolithiasis
• Why does my dog throw up and how can I stop it?

Cardiology
• Common cardiac problems

Neurology
• Degenerative Myelopathy
• Vestibular Syndrome

Orthopaedic
• Has my dog got hip dysplasia?
• Most common joint disorders

Pain Management
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for lameness –‘What works and what’s safe’

Soft tissue
• Common surgical procedures of the urinary tract?
• Surgical treatment of the chronic otitis

Other topics can be suggested.
